Frequently asked questions
How should I store my almonds?
Keep almonds in a dry, air tight container to avoid absorbing other odors. Almonds keep fresh in the refrigerator up to one year and in the freezer for up to two years.
Are your almonds pasteurized?
Yes. Our almonds are pasteurized using a steam technology typically used on organic almonds. This steam pasteurization process uses a lower temperature for a shorter amount of time, which allows for the internal temperature of the almond to stay low, therefore keeping the enzymes and vitamins within the almond unchanged.
Are your almonds truly raw?
According to the FDA, pasteurized almonds can be labeled as "raw". According to raw food enthusiasts, any food reaching a temperature above 118° is no longer considered raw. While definitions vary, there is another criteria for calling food "raw" which is whether or not it can be sprouted. In the case of steam pasteurized almonds, they can be sprouted for added activation of nutrients and ease of digestion. So, yes, we consider and label our almonds "raw".
How do you ship the almonds?
Shipping and handling will be calculated upon check out based on your location. We ship via UPS or USPS Priority Mail whenever possible since most offices and handling locations are temperature controlled which is important to maintain the freshness of the almonds.
